How To’s Glitter

  • Is it safe to wear glitter on your body and face? You must use a cosmetic grade glitter made from a non-toxic plastic called PET which is deemed safe to wear on the skin. The glitter is misshaped particles that can have some rough edges so do be careful if applying close to the eyes or in places that may be more sensitive. If you are unsure it is always best as with all make up products to carry out patch test -This information is for advice only and we @ Follies cannot be held responsible if glitter is used in any way and an adverse reaction occurs.

  • How do I create Festival Glitter Make Up?  The Glitter is not in a gel form so it doesn’t stick directly to the skin on it’s own.
  •  Vaseline may be used or we sell professional cosmetic grade glitter gels and water based body glues here at Follies that you can use to adhere your glitters to the skin with. If you choose to use the glue then let it go tacky first and then add the glitter. You will get full information with your purchase. Follies glitter and glue supplies

  • How do I remove Festival Glitter Make Up? First remove any excess with a cloth or wipe and place into the bin as we do bot want these glitter particles getting into the waterways.
  • Then you can use Facial cleaners and washes, soap and water, baby oil and cotton wool or facial wipes.
  •  When you are removing the glitters be careful not to rub too hard as the glitters may be rough in sensitive areas.

  • How do I apply Festival Glitter  Make Up? If you like the idea of this but do not know how to apply the product then come and join us on one of our fabulous courses at Greenwich in London where we can teach you all of the secrets plus more to creating these fabulous looks.
  • Our next glitter eye design course is Thursday 13th July in Greenwich London. Check out the next upcoming dates for these great FOLLIES courses.

Kryolan Award

Kryolan Award.

Kryolan Award. We had a really winning weekend at the 2017 FACE- Face Painting Association Conference in Chatham Kent over the weekend.

At the 2017 Face conference of the face painting association, I was thrilled to be awarded with the Kryolan Award for dedicated hard work and services to the Face and body painting industry. Kryolan are one of the top make up brands in the U.K so I felt very honored to receive this prestigious award from Vikki and Sarah who have worked for Kryolan UK for many years.

The FACE association was set up to encourage good levels of face painting competence within the industry and  to encourage face painters to work to good heath and safety standards and follow the Face guidelines and codes of practice to enhance the face painting industry standards as a whole.

Face Hold their yearly conference to gather together face painters from across the UK to participate in competitions and jams(A common name for gathering of face painters!), buy from traders on site and generally have great fun together!

We were lucky to be sponsored by Snazaroo, which enabled us to put on an even better event for our members!

Traders came and supported the event too, Kryolan, Magic Box, Paintopia, Funtime faces, Facade glitter supplies, Follies, The Living Art Show. We also had Rainbow faces and The Face Painting convention, Creative Collection and BHP face paint supplies sponsoring competition prizes too.

Competitions ran through the weekend and I was very pleased to be awarded 1st Place in the one stroke competition with this little fella as below!

I was also thrilled to get the 2nd place award in the glitter competition too, sponsored by Facade glitter. So a good weekend all round!

Sunday saw a body painting session organised by Angela Youngs, with myself and Raphaelle Fieldhouse- world body painting champion painting models Sarah Lowndes and Cheryl Lyon, which was great fun a for the meet and great for the Saturday night arrival for our rumble in the jungle party night!

We were also thrilled to manage to raise over £200 in the raffle which went towards one of our chosen charities for the weekend the Brain and Spine Foundation.

Body Painting Circus Theme

Warpaint

The theme for Warpaint 2016 was Circus…our lovely model Dulcey, carried this look beautifully. Our concept was the lion tmare with the image painted on the back of the lion Tamer with her head in the mouth of the lion! The big top features heavily- we wanted to celebrate all of the traditional circus themes in this look, with the addition of the usual sparkly Follies glamour!

This Body painting design was created using large particle glitters from Kryolan, glued with a water based  glue, Pros aide for example.

Mistair, airbrush and paints were used to create the lions face on the front and Kryolan and Snazaroo colours plus Cameleon were used on the body, finishes were added with Mehron gold powders and mixing liquids.

The bustle you may recognize form an event earlier this month! Nothing like a Recycle!

This look was created for Warpaint. We can do the same at your promotional event.
